- Use descriptive anchor text when linking between pages on your website
- Use your keywords in your anchor text that you want to rank high for
- Try to keep your anchor text consistent when linking to the same page
- Avoid generic terms such as ‘click here’ or ‘download’ or ‘more information

Jabra rolls out two more Bluetooth headsets for the masses

Mention Bluetooth headsets and chances are you will hear the name Jabra pop up among your conversations, never mind the likes of Aliph and the rest. Jabra was there almost right from the start, and it was that name that got me introduced to the world of Bluetooth headsets where wearing a Borg-like contraption used to be all the rage a few years ago. I still find it funny whenever I see someone wearing one of these headsets, but it is nice to see time and technology advance to a point where Bluetooth headsets are not only stylish, they offer a greater deal of functionality without sacrificing on battery life. Would be interesting to see an in-ear Bluetooth headset one of these days so that there won’t be any more dangling bits that can be quite an eyesore. This time round, we have a couple of Bluetooth headsets from Jabra known as the M5390 and the BT530. More specific details on both will be available right after the jump.

iBreath Alcohol Breathalyzer for your iPhone or iPod

Just when you thought that iPod accessories consist of nothing but cases, speaker docks and earphones, along comes the iBreath Alcohol Breathalyzer. This is pretty much a self-explanatory device - it allows you to take your own alcohol breath test before your brain cells decide that it is better to catch a cab home instead of attempting to rush headlong into a DUI charge.
The iBreath Alcohol Breathalyzer does not require any batteries to run as it sips power off the iPod it is connected to, and all functions as well as results are shown on the iBreath LCD display. It has a BAC range of 0.000 to 0.100% and comes with a timer to let you know when’s the next time for a test. Nice to see it comes with an integrated FM transmitter as well, transmitting your favorite iPod tunes to just about any FM tuner.

Stanley’s 3-in-1 Tripod LED Flashlight

Lanterns are great, they brighten up the room and a lot of times have a built-in flashlight. However, they are overly bulky and are more ideal for camping than for around the house. Well now Stanley has created a flashlight that has all the perks of a lantern but in a much smaller size. It would make projects around the house much easier and give a little added flexibility. It would also give whoever it is you normally recruit to hold the flashlight a break from their job.

4 Steps to Stand Out with Article Writing
1. No Matter What Your Titles Can't Be Boring.
Do you buy books with boring titles? I sure as heck don't. Let's face it, people judge a book by its cover. Articles are the same way. An article might be exactly what you're looking for but if it has a bad title, there is no way that anyone will spend time, let alone money, to obtain it. Make sure that your titles can help you grab the attention of your potential clients to boost your open rate.
2. Nine Times Out of Ten, A Short Article Is Better Than A Long One.
How would you feel about watching a 5-hour movie? I wouldn't stick around even if the film maker would pay me to do so simply because I have so much on my plate. When writing your articles, you need to consider the time that your readers will have to spend on your content just to get the information they need. Since your prospects are busy, it would be awesome if you could get your message across in 5 minutes or less. You can do this by making your articles short, scannable, and direct to the point.
3. Just like your titles, Make Sure Your Topics Are Interesting.
You could have the best brain surgery article on the internet. Somebody surely does. But if you're targeting gardeners, you aren't going to get any traffic. So, write about topics that they would like to know about. You can write about their hobbies, areas of interest, problems, questions, and the things that they would like to learn about.
4. Hands down, articles must be interesting.
If you don't want your readers to close your articles after reading your first paragraph, you need to make sure that your articles are interesting to read. Make sure you're articles are conversational and don't have too many "fluff" words. Be funny, concise, and write as if you're the reader and you're new to a subject.
Robot Legs

They will reduce the load on your legs by supporting your weight as you walk. You just sit on the unicycle-type seat and the leg frames bend like knees. They run on two motors which are controlled by signals from the sensors inside the shoes. It all sounds great but I must say that when I first saw those pictures, I did wonder how the boys might fare…

15 Link Building Strategies for New Websites
- Submit your site to Web Directories. This is a pretty monotonous process that can get you several hundred backlinks if you have the time. An alternative would be to hire a manual directory submitter. Here’s a list of web directories you can use. You can also find some blog directories here.
- Submit Press Releases to PR sites. A basic press release about your website’s launch can be released to several PR websites, who will distribute it to various online news outlets. A good way to get a free link. I recommend using PRWeb and PRLeap.
- Reciprocal Links with Similar Websites. Its important to pick sites that are of high relevance so you’ll not only get links but traffic. Reciprocal linking can be useful from the beginning but don’t overdo it. You can find link partners by emailing them directly or searching through webmaster forums.
- Squidoo Lenses. A Squidoo lens is fairly easy to create. It only takes around 15 minutes to set up one fully and you’ll be able to insert a bunch of anchor text links to your website along with your feed content. Hubpages is another similar site you can use.
- Article Submissions. Create a short article on your niche topic and submit it to article directories for a backlink and some traffic. You might get more links if your article is picked up and published on other websites. Here is a list of article directories, sorted by Alexa and PageRank.
- Social Media Profiles. There a whole bunch of social websites online which allow you to insert a link to your website on the profile page. Sign up for some of them, preferably using a username and avatar that brands your business or you as a person. This might come in useful when you decide to promote your site via the social website in the future.
- Social Bookmarking/Voting Websites. Certain social voting websites like Netscape or Digg are often crawled by search engines and their links do help to get a website indexed. 3spots has the biggest list of social voting and bookmarking websites I’ve seen so far.
- Forum Signatures. Sign up for some forums in your niche and start contributing to ongoing discussions. Insert a link to the homepage or some inner pages of your site.
- Create a Tool, Theme or Widget. Pay a designer to come up with an add-on application or template that is related to a specific social network, popular website or platform. Include a credit link that points back to your designated website.
- Blogs on Other Blog Platforms. Use existing blogs you have on other blog networks. Or set up different versions of your blog on different blog networks like Wordpress.com, Blogger and Xanga. Link to specific webpages on your website.
- Comment on Other Blogs. Start commenting on relevant and popular sites in your niche. Don’t just spam for links but focus on building a relationship with other bloggers as well. Write a relevant comment and try to avoid using keyword names or signature links.
- Guest posting on other blogs. Like article and press releases, this one involves having readily available content you can send out to certain blogs in your niche. This is great for getting relevant links and traffic.
- Hold Contests. Some websites often offer contests in a bid to attract anchor text links from bloggers. An example is this iPhone giveaway on Gary Lee’s site. Contests allow you to determine the specific anchor text but its possible that too many links using the designated keyword may harm your domain instead.
- Collaborative Projects. You may need to develop an article specifically for a writing project, blog carnival or meme but it will usually get you a couple of backlinks, depending on the number and generosity of the participants involved.
- Offer your Expertise. This will apply if you have a specific skill set such as web design, copywriting, translation or SEO. Write to an established website and offer to revamp/optimize their website in return for a mention or credit link on a webpage. This offers excellent branding, particularly if your offer is picked up by a website with a decent audience.
Solar Charger

This latest model has just arrived in the UK (June 2008) and due to it's slide out second panel, now charges even faster than previous models. It's also compatible with even more devices including mobile phones, PDA's, and even iPods (see full list below).
There is nothing worse than loosing mobile phone power when you're out and about, so get yourself a solar charger and you'll not only avoid communication meltdown but you'll be saving the environment too.
The Hanging Alarm Clock jerks out of your reach
This new alarm hangs on a 30cm cable and when it’s time to wake up it will creep up that cable and hide out on your ceiling. The only way to shut it off is to grab it off the ceiling and hit the stop button. Which means you’ll end up having to stand to reach the thing. Hopefully you don’t have a cat though, because it would end up attempting to rip it down from the ceiling. Which doesn’t look good for either your alarm clock or the cat.
To hit the snooze button, before it reaches the top, smack it good. Then after five minutes if you haven’t shut it back off it will go off all over again. The alarm itself actually ticks all the while giving off the sound of a wailing siren. Then to top it off it flashes a white light. All together this light would drive anyone insane. You can pick it up for $29.50 or £19.95 on Firebox.

The Important Factors for High Ranking Websites
A well optimized website can achieve high rank in search engine by
1.Fast Uploading WebSites - Frequent use of images in a web page will result in greater loading time. Besides, spiders do not like graphic images because it cannot read graphic images. An alternate text called "Alt Tag" must be added on the images.
2.Content Rich Websites - Search engines prefers websites text based rich in content. Spider crawling to your website must find valuable and informative text with keywords relevant to the content of the web page. Web crawlers do not like overstuffing of keywords. It checks for keywords density in the web page.
3.Easy Navigation - The websites must be user-friendly by adding easy navigation links. A website with good navigation will help the internet user to navigate through web pages easily. The links must not confuse the users. Broken links or dead links must be avoided.
4.Updating Regularly - The websites must be updated frequently by adding informative content for the users.
5.Link Popularity - As discussed above, link popularity is one of the factors for page ranking. Search engines check for both quantity and quality of links exchanged.
Gaining high rank in a search engine by inappropriate methods is called spamming. Search engines punish a website that tries to trick its algorithm. The websites trying to abuse the rules set by the search engines are punished by ranking them lower or removing them from the index list forever.
1.Hidden text or link is the text made on which URL or link is given and made invisible visually by applying same color as background
2.Irrelevant content due to words repeated frequently and misleading.
3.Cloaked Page
4.Doorway pages
5.Duplication of complete site or web pages
6.Deceptive redirection of the page other pages or sites.

What is Search Engine Optimization?
SEO is an acronym for “Search Engine Optimization” or “Search Engine Optimizer”.It is a set of methodologies aimed at improving the visibility of a website in search engine listings.
Search Engine Optimizer is the terms adopted by an industry of consultants who carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients, and by employees who perform SEO services in-house.SEO may offer SEO as a stand-alone service or as a part of a broader marketing campaign.
SEO began in the mid-1990s, as the first search engines were cataloging the early Web. Many site owners quickly learned to appreciate the value of a new listing in a search engine, as they observed sharp spikes in traffic to their sites.Site owners soon began submitting their site URLs to the engines on a regular basis, and began modifying their site to accommodate the needs of search engine spiders, the software programs sent out to explore the Web. Danny Sullivan who invented the search engine optimization by a spam message in Usenet(July 26, 1997).Larry Page and Sergey Brin developed “backrub”, a search engine that relied on a mathematical algorithm to rate the prominence of web pages. By 2007, search engines had incorporated a wide range of undisclosed factors in their ranking algorithms to reduce the impact of link manipulation.
SEO Techniques
List of SEO Techniques
Choose your site domain name that contains words from your primary keyword phrase. Your domain name should also be easy to spell and easy to remember. You keyword phrase also should in many cases go in your file name.
*Keyword Phrases:
1. Use keywords that are being searched for. You can check your keyword phrases with either the Search Term Suggestion Tool or the Overture Keyword Popularity Tool to find out how often they are being searched. You can also look at Google AdWords Keyword Suggestions for suggestions for different keyword phrases.
2. Add keyword synonyms to your content.
3. Put the keyword phrases in the .
4. Insert the keyword phrases in a keyword phrase tag at the beginning of your page. Keyword synonyms should be put in your h2 & h3 tags. The h1, h2, h3 tags are used for titles and subtitles in articles.
5. Make sure you use your keyword phrases from the page you are linking to, in your anchor text on the site map. i.e. SEO Techniques.
*Keyword Density:
Keyword density is a very important part of search engine optimization. Keyword density is the percent that your keyword or keyword phrase are of your web page text. You may want to look that your competition to see what keyword density they are using. To high a keyword density will be considered search engine spam and can get you blacklisted.Your keywords should be toward the top of your page and your keyword phrase be in either every paragraph or every second paragraph depending on your paragraph length.
*Bad Techniques:
Bad search engine optimization techniques can get you blacklisted from a search engine. Some techniques that are considered spam are cloaking, invisible text, tiny text, identical pages, doorway pages, refresh tags, link farms, filling comment tags with keyword phrases only, keyword phrases in the author tag, keyword density to high, mirror pages and mirror sites.
* Title & Meta Description Tag:
Construction of your title tag is one of the most important things you need to do. Each page should have a different title with 2 or 3 of your keyword phrases at the beginning. When search engine results are displayed the title is the first thing people see.
Below the title is a description which will be either be taken from your meta name description content=”Description phrase” or from the first sentence on at page. You description should also have 2 or 3 of your keyword phrases at the beginning as so should your first sentence. You should have a different title, description and first sentence on each page. You many also what to try shorter titles with only one keyword or keyword phrase as this will raise you keyword relevance. Also you can consider putting your domain name at the very end of the title.
*Meta Keywords Tag:
The meta keywords tag is not as relevant as it used to be and some say Google doesn’t ever look at it anymore, but put it in anyway. It is as follows, and put in it all your keywords and keyword phrases. This tag should be different for each page.
*Author & Robots Tags:
The Author Tag should contain the name of the company that owns the site. This tag will help you get a #1 position for your company’s name.
Use a generic Robots Tag on all pages that you want indexed. This instructs the robots to crawl the page. The following is the generic robots tag.
*Quality Content:
Quality content will bring people back and as people always want to tell others about a good thing it will get you forward links from other sites. Your content should be written with your keyword phrases in mind
*Quantity Content:
The more the better. Just remember your content will need to be both quantity and quality.
* Changing Content:
You can do this by hand or with a script. For example you can have a php script that draws five paragraphs from a pool of twenty paragraphs when the content is different each time the php page is accessed.
*Avoid Dynamic URLs:
Are you pages via php, asp, or cf? Some search engines may have a problem indexing them. Create static pages whenever possible. Avoid symbols in your URLs like the “?” that you will often find in php, asp or cf pages.
Static pages are the best but if you have a db driven site, make sure the menu and site map like go to inventory.cfm not inventory.cfm?vn=0 .
*Frames:
Many search engines can’t follow frame links. Make sure you provide an alternative method for the search engines to enter and index your site. For more information read Search Engines and Frames.
*Site Map:
A good menu system is really a site map. A well constructed menu system that is on each page and contains a link to very page on the website is all you need.
*Site Themes:
All of the top 3 search engines look for site themes or a common topic when they crawl a website. If your site is about one specific topic you will rank better than if you have more than one theme or topic on your site. By using similar keyword phrases in each page the search engines will detect a theme this will be to your advantage.
*Site Design:
You may think, what does site design have to with search engine optimization. Well if your website has a bad color scheme that is hard to read, is not organized, is a cheesy looking site, then all your site optimization has been a waste of time. Make your site attractive to the viewer, make things easy to find, have you graphic header and menu bar the same place on each page.
These things will keep your visitors on the site and bring them back. A well optimized site with a high search engine results position that is ugly and is hard find information on, will not keep the visitors your optimization has brought to the site.
Use W3C Link Checker to make sure all your page links are good. If you have broken links on your site this can effect the ranking you are given.
Put a proper doctype on each page. If you don’t have a proper doctype on each page Internet Exployer will go into quirks mode and display it different.
Use The W3C Markup Validate Service to verify that your pages are Validate HTML or XHTML code. The W3C validation will verify that your HTML or XHTML is not broken. This validation show you any broken code that could cause your webpages from displaying properly in all the different browsers and browser versions.
*Separate Content & Presentation:
Put all your presentation code into Cascading Styles Sheets (CSS). This separates the presentation from the content and makes your html files up to 50% smaller. It is reported that the search engine bots prefer this and the more content you have compared to presentation in your file, the better you get rated. Read why tables for markup are stupid for an overview.
*Robots.txt File:
While this file is not really required it should be included so that the search engine bots don’t get 404 errors when they look for it. Just include the following 2 lines and drop it in the root.
User-agent: *
Disallow:
